Danny Ackerman, PGA, Head Golf Professional
Danny grew up in Central Illinois where he was a Golf Professional at three different private clubs. Danny was the 1st Assistant Professional at Mt. Hawley Country Club in Peoria, IL for four seasons before coming to Fox Den in 2014. Danny played two seasons at Illinois Central College. His accomplishments there included two individual medalists and All-Conference honors for both seasons. He completed a degree in Business Marketing at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL in 2005 and completed the PGA/PGM program and received his PGA membership in 2012. Danny received the 2015 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year for the Tennessee PGA Section. Danny credits hispassion for the game and enjoyment of working with others as the key factors of his being a Golf Professional.
James Chapman, 1st Assistant Golf Professional
James moved to Tennessee in 2009 from Brighton, England. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee while on a golf scholarship. Upon completion of his degree in May 2013, he decided to pursue his love for golf and make it his career. He is currently enrolled in the PGA apprenticeship program and expects to gain Membership in 2019, upon completion of the program. James is coming to Fox Den Country Club from Egwani Farms Golf Course in Rockford, Tennessee where he served as the Golf Professional.
James believes in the importance of excellent customer service and member participation. He looks forward to getting out on the golf course and interacting with the members to create a more enjoyable golf experience.
Lee Whitehead, 2nd Assistant Golf Professional
Lee is a native of Knoxville, playing high school golf at
Christian Academy of Knoxville where he won two State Championships. As a junior, he also won the Knoxville City Amateur Championship posting a 4 round total of 16-under par 272. He continued his pursuit of golf into the collegiate level by playing 4 years at Tennessee Tech University where he majored in Public Relations with an emphasis in Sports Communications. While there, Lee earned several awards for both golf and academics including: 3-Time Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week, 2015 Randy Darcy’s Most Valuable Player Award, 5-Time OVC All Tournament Team Honors, 4- Time TTU Athletic Directors Honor Roll, 4-Time OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and Cleveland/ Srixon Golf’s All-American Scholar Athlete Award. Lee also worked as a graduate assistant for the men’s golf team in 2016. After graduating Tennessee Tech, Lee qualified to participate in the 2015 United States Amateur Championship held at Olympia Fields CC in Chicago, Illinois. Lee is now a member of the PGA University Golf Management program where he is working to become a Class-A Golf Professional. Outside of golf, Lee enjoys spending his time in the outdoors, and is a passionate fly-fisherman. Lee says “Using my experience to teach people the game of golf and getting to see them grow and improve as a player is what made me choose to become a Golf Professional.”
Dave Riddle, Professional Services
Dave is the most tenured member of the golf staff. He came to us after retiring from a distinguished career in the automobile business. Dave is always available to assist our members with all their needs. His responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing all locker room and shoe room operations, Golf Cart fleet maintenance/ upkeep and Proshop service. Dave always says, “The most important thing to me is members first!”
